Baby Chicks

Not exactly Babies anymore. The chicks are starting to lose their baby fluff and get their ugly teenager feathers.

This is where they start to really get “their look”, and identify themselves.

Still no names. We aren’t sure who is a hen or rooster, so we need to wait to figure that out first.

Fingers crossed some of the cool looking ones are hens and give us breakfast.

They LOVE being outside on the grass and scratching for bugs. It’s fun to watch them scratch. They are also now flexing their wings and stretching out. A few of them are getting some good air. We have had a few get out of the pen, but they stay close to the others and make it a shit show trying to collect them. They are FAST. I’ve gotten very good at cornering them in the pen and scooping in with both hands to collect two, sometimes three if I am lucky.

My favorite. I really hope it’s a hen.
