Can you believe it’s October already?

Well 2020! What a year this has been. Blink and it’s October. Feels a lot like March. Same day, everyday, different temperature outside.

I am definitely happy to put Summer behind me. What a scorcher. 40 degrees is NOT my optimal temperature. I am perfectly comfortable between 18-23 degrees (Celsius, of course).

2020 hasn’t been a total bust for me. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to transition to the well know acronym WFH. (Work from home model), which has had its ups and very few downs.

I have continued to push myself in the free time I have to be more creative, embrace the new challenges of keeping a safe distance and getting better at directing clients in front of my camera with my words vs just placing them where I would like them. I always hear my friends with small kids in the back of my head…Use your words (usually when a temper tantrum is about to be unleashed).

I had the joy of photographing a beautiful 9 year old in the woods with no props except some draping of polyester chiffon.

Polyester Chiffon draped on a big Oak tree

It was perfect for wrapping up in and for diffusing light to create soft, whimsical images that I adore.

The silhouette of the Oak tree makes me happy

This little lady had so much fun playing model and totally hammed it up for the camera. She was a dream to photograph and nothing makes me happier than hearing the reaction “look at me…I’m gorgeous”.

Creativity is definitely not something that comes naturally to me. I love all things creative, but it’s a skill that I need to work on. Every. Single. Day. I am determined to continue to learn, to grow and to be inspired.

I will not be held back by my fears of not being creative enough…I will use that energy to become better and work every day on seeing light and subjects in a more creative way.

My studio is currently closed, but I am working like a wild woman behind the scenes to create an unforgettable experience with images you will cherish forever.

There is still time before it is too cold to continue to shoot outside. Send me a note if you want to book a time to capture some Fall images in your favourite jeans, sweaters, boots and scarves.
