I was first introduced to Jen through Creative Live. An excellent resource for all things creative. Not just Photography. So much content available on one site. The beauty of the platform is you can stream and watch any class as it is happening LIVE and FREE. However, if you aren’t available or want to take a course at your leisure and always have it to refer back to, all the courses are available to purchase. This is also where I met another mentor, but I will save that intro for another time.
Jen is a Nikon Brand Ambassador and Kick Ass Boudoir Photographer based in NYC. She is very active on her Instagram stories, creating handmade treasures (bracelets, artwork, printed images and hand painted rocks during this Pandemic) and sharing her love and positivity.
So, at first I was blown away by Jen’s tenacity and determination and very authentic approach to photography and education. And then…Jen was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Breast Cancer and had a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. She was very public and real and raw about her cancer journey and when she cried, I cried. When she felt like she could do anything I felt that for her.
She has just published a book about her Cancer Journey, “What the F*ck Just Happened” that I haven’t picked up yet, but will. I followed her through it all through her education platform as well as her YouTube channel.
This woman is force to be reckoned with. Not even Cancer can crush her amazing spirit and energy.
She also has a great podcast “Shamelessly Feminine“ that can be found anywhere you listen to your podcasts. I use Spotify.
Trust me when I say, following Jen has made me appreciate how to see Beauty all around us, even when we don’t think anything is beautiful. There is always something. And Someone.
