I made it…with 15 minutes to spare

For the last few years instead of making a monster list of all the New Year’s Resolutions I want to achieve, I have been selecting one word as a theme for the upcoming year.

A word is so much easier than a list of tasks and goals that may or may not be achievable.

I have a close friend that I brainstorm with. We always joke about having SBS (same brain syndrome). It’s a real thing. You know the kind of kinship where you text each other from totally different cities the exact same thing at the exact same time. It’s freaky and fabulous.

She sent me a note last night asking if I had landed on my word, as I was playing around with many. I hadn’t.

As I lied in bed (not nearly as tired as I thought I was), I asked my mind to go quiet so I could ponder my word for 2021. It’s more of a guiding principle than a specific plan for the year.

I try to have to the word be broad so I can leverage it with all decisions, big and small. And there it was. Clear as day!

JOY!

That’s my word for 2021. Joy.

Will what I want to do/accomplish today, this week, this month, this year bring me Joy?

Will what I am about to do, create, write, say bring someone else Joy?

I fell asleep right after I sent my friend my word…at 11:45pm.

Content and ready for 2021 with a clear plan, all because of one word.

To no surprise, as I was diving down the Pinterest Rabbit Hole this morning, finding quotes on Joy, she was doing the exact same thing and we spent the morning sharing quotes and images from the World Wide Web on all things JOY.

I challenge you to go on Pinterest and search Joy Quotes. There is NO WAY you won’t find some kind of Joy or Inspiration.

Another place to go if you are thinking maybe you want to give the “word of the year” thing a try is… The Goal Chaser. It’s a great post with helpful tips to consider and a boatload of words to check out.

Morning well spent and I feel good.

Happy New Year and I hope everyone finds a little more JOY this year than last and spreads it like glitter everywhere they go and with everyone they meet.
