I’m ok…are you ok?

I’m desperately itching to feel creative. I wanna photograph and create and change people’s perception on how they see themselves.

I want people to see themselves through my lens. Not be critical or judgemental of themselves. I want to help them see the light that shines bright inside them.

Photography is funny. You can look at the craft from so many angles. There is the technical side with perfect exposure, perfect lighting, perfect composition and perfect white balance.

Then there is the creative side where the lighting is extreme, the composition is out of the ordinary. Maybe it’s moody lighting vs light and airy.

So many styles come into play and finding your unique style for lighting, composition, subjects and message you are trying to convey is just simply fascinating.

Although my “style” is still evolving, as it likely will always…I love clean, non-distracting backgrounds and I love having the person be the focal point with no other competition for attention in the frame.

My lighting and moody vs light airy varies depending on the scene, and I think that’s ok. I am very drawn to warm, rich images, but see beauty in crisp clean images too.

This session from a few years ago was early in my education journey with Amy and Jordan Demos…who I still learn from today. They definitely have a bright and airy style and their wedding images are absolutely stunning. They have an excellent teaching style that is clear to understand, easy to implement and you can modify the learnings to suit your own personal editing style.

Bring on more winter sessions!!!
