It’s going to come as no surprise that the last 10 months have been challenging. It also won’t likely be a surprise, based on prior posts, that I have done my very best to keep my chin up and try to find joy and be joy.
I was so full of hope and almost giddy for the possibilities of a new Decade at the start of 2020.
Well…we all know how 2020 went, so I defer my hope and optimism to 2021.
I’m feeling good about 2021 so far, in my little bubble. Here we are on the 21st day of the 21st year of the 21st Century and I am 21 days into my Yoga practice without missing a day. That is huge for me.
My biggest learning for personal wellness…is to make it happen. Fill your cup first. I try to do that each day, literally, with a cup of tea and some quiet time to start my day with a fresh mind and fresh perspective on the day.
I end my work day with my Yoga Practice with Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. I think I will start adding some peaceful meditation at the very end of the day. I am lucky to have access through work to the app, Headspace, but I only lean on it when I have trouble sleeping, vs proactively practicing peaceful meditation daily. (Say that 5 times fast).
Another way I start my day on the right foot is getting dressed. LOL. 11 months ago, even considering saying that phrase seems ridiculous, but working from home is a totally different approach to work. Getting dressed in work clothes and actually doing my hair and makeup, really starts my day better. I notice on days I don’t wear makeup or do anything more than brush my hair, my level of enthusiasm is lower.
Those are just a few ways that I am practicing wellness. I am still educating myself daily on photography and business and social media. When I feel like giving my thinking mind a rest, I grab my knitting needles and add a few more rounds to a v-neck Alpaca sweater I am working on.
Now that you know what I do to keep my mind well and stay focused on positivity, what do you do?
